THE PLAID DOG WORKSHOP

The Plaid Dog Workshop is a small family shop in Black Forest, Colorado, built around craftsmanship, service, and a genuine love for making things that mean something.

Like a lot of good stories, this one did not begin with a perfect business plan. It began with a sudden change in life direction and the decision to build something with our own hands — something personal, practical, and lasting. What started as a shift became a workshop, and what grew from that was a business centered on custom woodworking, laser engraving, CNC carving, and thoughtful handmade pieces for homes, businesses, gifts, and memorials.

We live in Black Forest, Colorado — which, despite the name, is not actually black and contains far less mystery than it sounds. It does, however, come with the kind of lifestyle that makes you appreciate hard work, good materials, animals, and things built to last.

Pets have always been a big part of our lives. Between our own animals and our experience with pet fostering, we know just how much personality, chaos, loyalty, and love an animal can bring into a home. That connection naturally shaped this business. While The Plaid Dog Workshop has grown into a broader custom woodworking and engraving shop, that love for animals and the people who love them is still part of who we are.

Everything we make is created in a small-shop environment where quality and service still matter. We are not a mass-production operation, and we do not want to be. We believe custom work should actually feel custom. That means paying attention to details, taking pride in craftsmanship, and treating customers like people instead of order numbers.

Our work combines traditional woodworking with modern laser and CNC engraving technology to create pieces that are both personal and durable. From custom signs, engraved gifts, and branded business items to home décor, photo engravings, and memorial pieces, we focus on making products that feel meaningful and are built to last.
